From Tripadvisor: We agree, this is an outstanding company. We rented a Hyundai i30; it was clean, operated fine and got great mileage. Their service was flawless. The car was delivered to our guest house right on time, and we dropped off at the guest house as well [in fact, they made a special trip to come get it as there was no parking when we returned due to an event in Reykjavik]. As a note; we found driving in Iceland to be easy and unstressful [unlike Italy, Greece or Turkey]. Highways and roads are well marked. People generally drive courteously and obey the speed limits; the ring road is in very good shape and while we didn’t have any contact with the police they likely are very good English speakers [almost all Icelanders are]. Any time you get off the ring road [to go to an attraction or accommodation for example] expect a 1 lane gravel surface. There is the occasional wash boarding and pot holes to be avoided, but otherwise, if you go slowly they are fine, albeit quite dusty [if you are lucky to have dry sunny weather]. We drove from Reykjavik to Hofn and gas was easy to get with a credit card, although we didn’t figure out how to get a receipt. The gas stations also had free water [with a brush] for washing off the dust.

From Tripadvisor: I was in Iceland in June this year and I have been perfectly satisfied with Reykjavik Rent a Car. These guys have a really good service from the first contact. I got every time fast answers on my emails. In Iceland the Pick-Up at my first-night-hostel was in time and like we arranged it. The personal in the office was really nice!!! I rented a Hyundai ix35 and the car was in a really good condition. No blemish and only 20.000 km when I got the car. Sorry for my bad English :-) Everybody who chooses this company makes a good choice!!! Christoph

From Tripadvisor: I used Reykjavik Rent a Car again from 10th to 20th July again this year. As usual, great service at Keflavic airport, sensible advice about not letting go of the car doors in windy weather, and no pressure to buy extras. The 4x4 Quashqai performed well, and we explored Snaefellsness, the Highlands (Kjolur, F35, Hveravellir) and along the South coast camping at Pak Gil (Game of Thrones!). Will definitely use this company again, and a friend already has a car booked with them for September.

From Tripadvisor: First time in Iceland and I read many very negative forum posts about car rental in this country. It was strongly advised not to book any international rent a car companies like Avis, hertz, etc... As many people got charged for damages to the car after getting back to their countries and no possibility to make any claims. So I was a bit afraid about car rental in Iceland. I decided to follow the forums recommendation and I picked up Reykjavik rent a car because it was a local company, and it was definitely cheap. I've rented a Suzuki Jimmy for 7 days. The car was clean, 47000kms mileage, very good condition. The staff was very friendly and helped me sorting out an issue from my side during the booking process. They explained me their company policy towards damages and vehicle return. It was very clear and I have appreciated a lot that they trust customers. No car inspection at checkout! I strongly recommend using RRC because of their very competitive prices and their customer-trust policy! Will definitely rent again with them next time I come to Iceland

From Tripadvisor: Reykjavik Rent a car is just excellent.!!!!!!!! We have been traveling around iceland for 3 weeks. There is no better way to go around the island as with a car. We could stop everywhere, and we found absolutely magic (!!!) places. So, we have been looking for a good car company, and we couldn't have decided better. I think Reykjavik Rent a Car is the best car rental company i ever collaborate with. We had very special wishes about how our car should be and look like because of the way we wanted to travel. And they were really always very helpful and were responsive to ALL of our (sometimes crazy) wishes. Even when our tank was empty in the middle of nowhere there was someone helping us within 30 minutes. We especially want to thank Kristjan for this outstanding service i can't describe in words! From Tripadvisor: I travel a great deal and rent a lot of cars. Reykjavik Rent a Car may be the best rental experience I have ever had. They were quick with their communication follow up, very accommodating, the owner met us the airport upon our arrival, the vehicle was in perfect condition inside and out and didn't have that weird odor that many rental cars do, and drop off was simple. Really well done.

From Tripadvisor: I have used this company three times. I have just booked for a fourth. I travel and hire cars a lot and NOWHERE in the world have a received such a good service. I emailed them yesterday with an email enquiry - this was a Sunday night and within an hour they had replied. Their cars are new, spotlessly maintained and they deliver on time and there is never any hassle. One year I had an unusual set of circumstances regarding pick-up and they worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. If you email you get a reply from someone who makes you feel like a valued customer.

From Tripadvisor: Positive reviews are so boring :( But, I said I'd follow up my last review, so I will. Hired a big 4x4 from the company last December. No problems. Went back and hired another smaller 4x4 - a Grand Vitara for 2 weeks in July this Summer. Great car, brand new (<3000kms on clock). Drove all around the Snaefellsness Peninsular, then the Kjolur F35 (Hveravellir) and Landmannalaugar - yes, "F" roads and some smaller river crossings. Great car, great service and good price talking into account the 10+ day discounts. Good advice given on airport pick up - such as, "be careful opening car doors in high winds" - a BIG cause of damage.

From Tripadvisor: I had to add a comment since we used Reykjavik Rent A Car this june/july 2013 for two weeks. Service was excellent with the brand-new Suzuki Jimny delivered to our hotel. A GPS was thrown in, and wonders of wonders the return of the very dusty (but well treated) car was a no hassle 2 min drop off at the airport. There are less expensive car rental companies but the price, though high by continental Europe standards, was fair for this service.

From Tripadvisor: Just had to comment regarding our recent experience with Reykjavik Rent a Car - had been seriously let down by Avis literally hours before 5 people were due to land at Reykjavik airport needing a 9 seater for a 4 day photoshoot. Called Reykjavik Rent a Car at 7:00 am UK time - an hour before the people were due to touch down, to see if there was anything they could do to help. Within the hour Mr Baldvinsson had confirmed that a vehicle would be available and he met the travellers on time at the airport to hand over the vehicle! Can't thank Mr Baldvinsson enough for his efficiency and professional approach and would certainly recommend to other travellers requiring car hire in Iceland.

From Tripadvisor: We had really 4 good days exploring a part of Iceland with a car from Reykjavik rent a car. The car, the Suzuki Grand Vitara, was in a perfect estate. The booking from Germany was very easy, if I had questions before coming to Iceland I got a reply within an hour and the delivery of the car to our hotel was very punctual, even on a Sunday morning. Coming back to Iceland I will surely chose the same company again.

From Tripadvisor: After good experiences with service and support, during our first Iceland trip in 2010, we rented this year again a 4-wheel drive car from Reykjavik Rent a Car for our Iceland round trip via route 1 from 6 till 20 April. We got an excellent car which was delivered and picked up from our hotel. Reykjavik Rent a Car was again a great contribution to our excellent holiday on Iceland. Highly recommended.

From Tripadvisor: In July, we rent a 4WD Suzuki Jimny from Reykjavik rent-a-car and were really happy with the experience! They gave us a Grand Vitara (older model) instead... old car but more room for our luggage’s :-) We found them to give excellent customer service (pickup at 3am at the airport, free GPS for minor problem with the car, etc.) Good pricing too. Highly recommended!

From Tripadvisor: We, a group of 18, rented two Hyundai Starex H1 vans from Reykjavik Rent a Car for the Golden Circle Tour and a trip around Iceland. When we had a flat in Reykjavik late on our first day, Reykjavik Rent a Car provided excellent service to enable us to continue our trip without delay. Pickup and drop off at our hostels was very convenient. We later rented a vehicle for one day and again, the service was excellent. We recommend Reykjavik Rent a Car to fellow travellers. From Tripadvisor: We were very happy with Reykjavik Rent a Car, too. We hired one Hyundai Santa Fe for the four of us. The car was delivered on time and was in excellent condition. it was brand new and the guy who delivered it was very friendly. After about 10 days of our 14-day journey we had an accident. We called Reykjavik Rent a Car and they had an extra car for us. After flying back to Reykjavik we got the same car again and were treated absolutely friendly. The replacement car was in perfect condition and brand new like the first one. The policeman told us, he wouldn't know how the insurance company would judge about the accident. He told us we could get a contributory negligence. At first the insurance company decided that it was our fault too, so we would have to pay our self-risk of 75.000 ISK. But with the help of Reykjavik Rent a Car, the decision was negotiated again and they decided that the other driver is fully responsible for the accident and we didn't had to pay anything. Case was closed and we were happy. After 2 more weeks the car rental contacted us again, telling us that they claimed the insurance company of the other car should pay for your flight tickets to Reykjavik the day of the accident too. It is amazing how helpful they were, we were just happy not being charged the self-risk and didn't thought we could get the extra flight to Reykjavik payed too, because the policeman was only smiling when we asked him about this and said, we wouldn't have any chance with this demand. To sum it up, Reykjavik Rent a Car was extremely collaborative and helped us so much, regardless if it is their problem. They just stood up for us so we could get some extra money back. Absolutely recommendable!!! Thanks again. I had a really nice contact to them after the vacation. I am from Germany and couldn't think about a company being so unselfish and helpful here.
